A guide to living in Oakland!
Oakland is located East of San Francisco and just over the Bay Bridge. Oakland is one of the Bay Area’s largest cities spanning further East to the Caldecott Tunnel and South to the Oakland Airport.
One of the most compelling aspects of Oakland is its diverse array of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct character and charm. From the busy streets of Downtown and the historic Victorian homes of West Oakland to the picturesque hills of Montclair and the waterfront allure of Jack London Square, there's a neighborhood to suit every lifestyle.
You will never be bored as creativity flourishes in Oakland, infusing its streets with colorful murals and filling its theaters with the sounds of live music. The city's indie galleries and historic venues provide platforms for local artists and musicians to showcase their talents, contributing to Oakland's reputation as a cultural epicenter. Despite its urban setting, Oakland offers peaceful escapes amidst its natural surroundings. Lake Merritt, affectionately known as the "Jewel of Oakland," offers a tranquil oasis for leisurely walks and birdwatching. Meanwhile, the redwood forests of Joaquin Miller Park and the sweeping vistas of the Oakland Hills beckon outdoor enthusiasts to explore their beauty.

Lifestyle & Weather
Oakland's climate is characterized by its Mediterranean influence, bringing mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. Daytime temperatures during winter typically range from the mid-50s to low 60s Fahrenheit, while summer temperatures often climb into the 70s and 80s, occasionally reaching the 90s. Spring and fall offer moderate temperatures, making them ideal seasons for outdoor activities.
If outdoor activities are your thing, head out to Lake Merritt for a walk around the lake or even hop in a paddleboat! You can also head to Redwood Regional Park and Joaquin Miller Park, where you can hike, picnic, and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
You may want to escape the heat or hide from the rain by checking out the vibrant arts district of Uptown, home to galleries, theaters, and live music venues. You can also catch a performance at the historic Fox Theater or explore the eclectic shops and boutiques along Telegraph Avenue.
